music courses for your school

Harmony Music School and Joe Bonamassa, the world famous guitarist are now offering the chance for children
from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to
obtain a free music scholarship.

We are giving a local child the opportunity to learn to play the guitar free of charge until they are 16 years old. As the scholarship is open to children between the ages of 10 and 12, this scholarship is worth over £3500.

You don’t need any experience or knowledge of music and we will even provide the guitar too, you simply turn up to the school every week for a free one to one bespoke tuition programme.

This scheme is open to children entitled to free school meals or those in care. Aubrey Robinson, the school's Managing Director, has been hoping to help young children in the local area since the doors to the School opened in 2009. "I feel really strongly that music education should be accessible to all. Unfortunately, over the years we have seen a reduction in music education in schools, but we feel that we can help bridge the gap. All of our teachers have experience performing and playing all over the country. I think it is important to be able to offer real experience to our students and help them to realise their own musical ambitions. Working with the 'Count me in' scheme made us realise how many children there are in Sheffield who want to get involved with music but are not financially able. By offering this scholarship we hope we will provide at least one young person a real opportunity in music.” Joe Bonamassa knows the importance of children getting involved in music from an early age and continues to involve them in his shows, “When we go on tour and pick the opening acts, I try to get young kids. I think that’s the greatest thing because if there’s not a new generation of kids playing this music, there won’t be a new generation of fans. And that will ultimately hurt guitar music and roots music in general”. Joe Bonamassa and Harmony Music School are proud to be able to offer this opportunity to a child in Sheffield.
